Congregational Information Meeting - April 27 & April 30

The following presentation was given April 27 and will be give April 30 at 7 PM at the church.  It updates Project Caleb plans and provides a plan of action.

The Official Board is asking the membership to vote to increase the project budget and has provided a good summary of where the additional funding might come from.  The vote to approve this increase in the budget which then allows us to move forward is planned for May 4 at 11:15 a.m. after the Sunday morning service.

If you are not able to attend then you can use the Expression of Support form below to indicate your support for or against this increase.  Please feel free to drop off this form at the Church Office or send it along as an email version.

If you have not pledged to date and would like to, now would be a great time to join the journey to the Promise Land.

A pledge form is also attached for you to use.  It provides a place for you to begin with a pledge in 2014 and carry it through until 2017.  Or if you are currently pledging there is a place there for you to add an additional year of donations in 2017 via a pledge as well.

Feel free to be in touch if you have further questions.

March 6, 2014 Update

The Annual Meeting which was held on Feb. 9 was a good update from our architect Henry Swinkels.

The design features were updated from Henry's laptop as he was showing the "work in progress" status and outlined several adjustments in the design over the past look.  All these both aid in the layout and in the budget - that is, we think they will reduce the overall costs.

This week we anticipate some updated drawings from Henry which we will post when we get them.

Plans are also underway to launch a new Team called the Construction Team (creative name, eh?!) to help serve Trulls during the period of construction by being on site and working on the details of any pieces left to Trulls to manage outside of the builder's contract with us.  More details on this to come as well - the Team is still in the selection process.

Site plan work is still underway with the Town and as soon as that is firmed up then we hope to prepare for a building permit.

Our next big date is tentatively set for May 4 when we will have a ground breaking ceremony as well as a day to bring in our Project Caleb Banks - to empty them out and start another round of savings. Mark your calendars now and plan to be here for that day!

There is still room for donations to the Journey to the Promise Land Campaign - if you'd like more info please call or drop as a line.

Have a great week - continue in prayer for good work to be done in all these areas moving forward.

Upcoming Updates - February 9, 2014

The latest news about Project Caleb is being planned for February 9 at 4 PM as we gather as a church for our annual Society Meeting. (For those not familiar with the FMC that is our Annual General Meeting.)

At this meeting our architect Henry Swinkels will be in attendance to provide us with an update drawing of the latest layout as we prepare to submit building permits within the next month or two.

We will also review the budget for the project and present some timelines for construction.  At this point we anticipate being able to do the addition and stay in the facility throughout - all going well.

A special thanks to the Project Team for their continued excellent work behind the scenes.  Lots of research is now needed to bring the quotations for the various aspects of the project to the table.

The first round of comments from the Town of Clarington regarding our Site Plan Amendment are back and for the most part no major hindrances exist as we prepare for final approvals.

Our Journey to the Promise Land Campaign continues to grow.  The pledge total is now at $1,001,429.00 so a shout out to all who are supporting the Campaign.  New donations are most welcome at any time.

Hope you can plan to attend on Feb. 9 - See you there with joyful anticipation for what the Lord is doing among us.

The Verse for the Year for 2014 at Trulls is:

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)

2014 Begins!  A Update on Events Heading into the New Year.

So much has happened since last January with Project Caleb at TRFMC. We are sure there will be much more to report on throughout this year too.  We are on a Journey to the Promise Land.

January 8 is an important date.  The Project Team meets with the architect and the builder to review the details of the project, especially in regards to budgets and design.

The Town of Clarington is preparing responses to our application to amend the Site Plan Agreeement.   We hope to hear back early in January as to what is yet to be addressed.

It is anticipated that we may be in a position to submit our building permit application in February after final drawings are completed.  This would hopefully lead us towards an early April ground breaking ceremony.

On another front we have a very good lead on a potential lending institution for our short term mortgage arrangements.  Stay tuned for more details on this as we move ahead.

A big shout out to all who have pledged and who are contributing to the Building Fund.  So far over $1 Million in pledges has been made and as of December 29, 2013 -- $217,974.35 has been received. We give thanks to the Lord for such a strong show of support.  If you would like to contribute or pledge at any time please call the church office for more information.  905-436-2300.

Finally, our year end numbers are still being worked on but we do know that $478,047.00 was received towards our general budget for 2013 - well over our proposed budget of $459,000.  PTL!

Will keep you posted along the way as we have more updates to PROJECT CALEB.

December 2013 Updates

Town Site Plan Application:
Please be in prayer over these next three weeks as we await a formal response from the Town of Clarington on our site plan amendment application. We would really like the response to be back to us before Christmas which will help our architect move forward with his work.

Final Drawings:
After the comments are back to us we can begin to work on final drawings - hopefully to have them completed by late January.  Some updates to the layout are being considered. These proposed changes will be on the agenda for the Project Team meeting on December 11.

Budget Considerations:
The Project Team, Henry Swinkels (Architect) and our builder, Gay Construction meet December 11 to review the proposed budget.  Our overall goal is $1.6 Million but as with all projects there are items that may end up costing less or more. We are working hard to try to keep within this proposed budget target.

Building Permit Application:
Once the final drawings are done, a building permit application is next.  Our goal is to be ready to build in April of 2014 when the frost is out of the ground.

Mortgage Arrangements:
Knowing that we have to secure a short term mortgage to finish the expansion it is important to find a lending institution that we can work with and provide this kind of service. Representatives from the the Official Board and the Project Team reps met this past week with a lending group to determine if this might be a possibility.  From the initial meeting it appears to be a good fit.  Details are yet to be worked out of course but the rates being offered are very favourable and the repayment terms quite flexible. We anticipate bringing these details to the Society Meeting in February 2014.

Journey to the Promise Land Campaign Update:
Thank you to all who have been faithful in fulfilling your pledges so far. Since October 6, $162,672.00 has come in towards Project Caleb for which we are very thankful and offer up praise to the Lord!  We are excited to announce that pledges now exceed $1 Million towards our goal.  If you are interested in joining the Journey and making a donation or a pledge please contact Debi Gunter or Louise Gowdy in the Church Office for a Campaign Brochure.

Thanks for your support and interest in Project Caleb.  If you have any questions or would like someone to visit with you to explain things in more details, please be in touch.  Pray that the proceedings would go smoothly and be accomplished in a timely fashion.  Already we are seeing God provide great connections for us putting us in touch with the right people at the right time.

Campaign Newsletter - Final Edition October 13, 2013

Here is the last of the Journey to the Promise Land Campaign Newsletters.

The Caleb Report will continue to be produced to provide updates on the building process.

This week a meeting with our architect, Henry Swinkels and builder, Lawson Gay went very well as the details of the proposed plans and budget were reviewed with the Project Team.  We expect to soon submit our application to the Town of Clarington to amend our Site Plan.  Final drawings should be done by the end of January and application for building permits shortly thereafter.  Then we await the spring time when we can begin to build.

Click below to access the latest update on the Campaign for which we are very thankful.
